Meet The Founder.

Sofia Maniam is a qualified Australian Migration Lawyer with over a decade of immigration law experience in both government and private practice.

After graduating from law school, Sofia began her career in what was formerly known as the Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection. At the Department, Sofia gained extensive experience in cases at the appeal stage, ranging from character cancellations, citizenship refusal, and refugee and detention cases being heard in various court jurisdictions.

Sofia’s experience in the public sector provided her with a strong understanding of the migration legal framework. Having worked on behalf of the government, Sofia possesses advantageous insights into the attributes of a successful application.

Between 2008-2009, Sofia taught two online modules of the Graduate Certificate of Australian Migration Law, at the Australian National University. This experience strengthened her technical expertise, while also honing her ability to communicate effectively, cutting through legal jargon to provide a clear understanding of the law.

Sofia’s transition to corporate immigration work took her to Ernst & Young (EY) in Sydney, Australia as well as Toronto, Canada. At EY, Sofia gained extensive knowledge in corporate migration and how to work with multinational clients with demanding caseloads. Upon returning to Australia, Sofia consulted in a few boutique migration firms, where she was involved in some of the most challenging cases of her career, including, matters relating to surrogacy, concessional citizenship, adoption, Ministerial Interventions and Administrative Appeal Tribunal appeals.

With her experience in both public and private sectors, Sofia can arm clients with the knowledge they need to confidently complete the immigration process. Her willingness to listen and her dedication to resolving migration matters means she is well-positioned to assist you no matter how complex your immigration needs might be.
